African Diaspora Maritime plans for a successful America’s Cup Team structured with the idea to stimulate myriad aspects of the North Carolina and United States economy. Please read the follow-up letter to, Capital Broadcasting Company CEO J. F. Goodmon as an example. (Capital Broadcasting is not affiliated in any way with ADM the purpose of displaying this unaltered letter is to confirm our thinking prior to the America’s Cup application deadline March 31, 2011)

Dear Mr. Goodmon,
With trepidation, I now hand-over “Troublesome Creek”. Kim assures me you are much more handsome than your alleged look-alike…I concur. As I review our enjoyable chat, there are some ideas I wish to revisit most in brief bullets. If we request hosting rights for a Pre-Regatta in 2012/13, about a two week period, with 7-9 days of fleet racing featuring teams from France, Spain, Italy, Sweden and New Zealand would likely generate $175-225 million for North Carolina. See www.americascup.com. African Diaspora Maritime in North Carolina will:
- Stimulate tourism.
- Create a film/documentary.
- Tap into the scientific and historical minds of our students.
- Use Beaufort’s Radio Island for our training/racing operation. We could use Wilmington provided exorbitant time and costs for tow-outs can be mitigated.
- Build a “Boat Park” in Raleigh as our conduit to high volume visitation via K-12 field trips, civic/community groups, e.g., Boys and Girls Club, Scouts, Church groups, etc.
- Build the America’s Cup boat in Charlotte to generate community engagement, with monthly builder and designer forums and field trips.
- Use FIFA Football-for-Hope centers as our template. www.streetfootballworld.org
- Build a new AC72 Catamaran in Charlotte with viewing zones for high-tech field trips. Utilize teach-ins and video logs as an education tool throughout the design and building process.
- Use the World Cup template to have a series of television programs to promote our story with historical vignettes, community interaction, crew interviews and yacht racing 101.
Our logo and crest will have several incarnations and YES we will have a t-shirt with a boat! See page III of the project proposal as an example. We can have an all pink version for cheerleaders and a camouflage one similar to the Nike “Combat Series”. A licensing agreement with Nautica selling our logo on hats, jackets, sweaters and, t-shirts should net us $17-23 million per annum in royalties, thereby funding our program.
For a great example of variety in sporting uniforms, go to Google and look up “How many uniforms does Oregon have?” You will see 384 color/fabric combinations for the University of Oregon Football team.
As I prepare to meet Mr. Goodnight and the other power players, I am always able to take a phone call for any queries or comments. Please send me an e-mail address so I may forward my recently completed U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License, which contains curriculum vitae, background investigation, drug test, letters of reference, work history, et al. Again, thank you for your time and energy as we work together to forge a stronger well-rounded Carolinian, equipped to compete in a global marketplace. I close with your watch words, Community & Commerce.
Sincerely,
Charles M. Kithcart
